Top-Notch Vacuums for Intex Pool
Aquabot Pool Rover Hybrid Robotic Pool Cleaner
Aquabot is an automatic pool cleaning robot. It can cover 5400 sq. ft. per hour, removing everything from algae to larger leaves.
The robot features a jet-propelled system that helps clean all the slopes and the floor with ease. It takes it less than an hour to cover a 24′ pool.
This one comes with a 19-quart micro filter bag that’s reusable and easy to clean. It ensures that all that you’ve vacuumed stays within the robotic pool cleaner without going back in the water.
Another important thing to note is that this one is easy to set and use. It has a guidance system that allows you to clean different pools, regardless of their shape. Also, it has extra-wide wheels that help with maneuverability across ripples and vinyl pool floors.
- Customizable system
- 41′ power cable
- 34-quarts filter holding capacity
- The cord gets very twisted
POOL ROVER S2 40
This is another Pool Rover from Aquabot, but it’s slightly different than the one we reviewed above. The S240 is a robotic cleaner meant for all shapes and surfaces measuring up to 40′. It’s designed for above ground pools.
It cleans the floor of your pool efficiently and quickly, removing dirt, debris, and contaminants. It can also clean the cove and partial wall, but it requires at least 6” floor to wall radius.
This one has a filter that filters 80 to 85 gallons per minute, cleaning up everything in its way. It picks up leaves, debris, algae, and pretty much everything else that you don’t want in your pool.
Now, Pool Rover Hybrid had a very critical issue with power cable continually tangling. This is something the S240 doesn’t struggle with thanks to the EZ swivel cable measuring some 40′.
- Filter Capacity: 80 to 85 GAL per minute
- Weight: 22 lbs
- Cable Length: 40 ft
- Easy to maneuver with
- Top-access filtration
- For all pool floors
- No scheduling or remote control
Intex Auto Pool Cleaner
This one is a bit different than the first two we reviewed, but it’s a bit more automatic and adjustable. It requires a filter pump with a 1,600 to 3,500 ghp flow rate.
It’s meant for Intex above-ground pools with 1-1/2” hose fittings as it attaches to the inlet connector in the pool with a 24’7” hose.
Keep in mind though that this one isn’t meant for in-ground pools as it’s made to work specifically as ground pool vacuum. One thing you should be careful with is how you set up the vacuum. Remove all the air pockets from the cleaner hose for maximum performance.
The vacuum comes with a user manual to help you if it’s your first time using the Intex auto pool cleaner. It’s made of durable materials and can cover pools that are 24′ and smaller.
- Automatically reverses direction
- For all kinds of dirt and debris
- Easy to use
- Might become slower over time
Intex FBA_28003E Deluxe Maintenance Kit for Above Ground Pools
This Intex Deluxe Maintenance Kit is a manual kit meant for above ground pools. It requires an Intex filter pump that has a flow rate of at least 800 ghp.
Because it’s a manual kit, it’s meant for quick cleanups and small maintenance jobs. Although it’s efficient and reliable, the vacuum cannot perform as an automatic cleaner.
It sucks the debris from the floor, passing them through the filter so that the water it ejects is clean and safe to return to the pool. All you have to do is attach it to the outlet connector of your pool using the 24’7” hose included.
It comes with a few attachments such as the 110” telescoping aluminum shaft, two vacuum heads, the body, mesh skimmer net, and a wall brush.
- For quick cleanups
- Several accessories included
- Easy to use
- The net isn’t fine enough for small particles
Zodiac Ranger Suction Side Automatic Above-Ground Pool Cleaner
The Zodiac Ranger is among the best solutions if you’re looking for a quick and easy-to-use Intex pool vacuum. It effectively cleans all the above-ground swimming pools, but it isn’t recommended for those with soft sides.
It’s a one-moving-part technology, which means fewer chances of the vacuum breaking. Plus, such design eliminates flapper and hammer noises as you work.
The deflector wheel helps prevent the vacuum from getting caught on ladders, steps, and corners. The entire thing comes pre-assembled so that you can use it immediately as it arrives.
On top of that, the Zodiac Ranger features Insta-Skim Compact and Flowkeeper flow control valves.
- 32′ of feed hose
- Easy maintenance
- Quiet operation
- Works in one pattern only
Intex Handheld Rechargeable Vacuum
This strong and sturdy vacuum for Intex pool is suitable for all the above-ground pools up to 18′ diameter. It has built-in rechargeable batteries that provide ongoing suction power.
The vacuum comes with two interchangeable brush heads, a 94” telescoping aluminum shaft, USB cable, and a shaft adapter. It’s just enough accessories to get the job done without being too overwhelmed by many extra parts.
Another thing worth noting is the automatic shut off feature. It activates when the vacuum isn’t submerged in water, serving to save battery life when not in use. The switch is IPX8 waterproof for some added protection.
With that said, this one has to be submerged in order to work. Keep in mind that it’s only meant for metal frame pools, so we don’t suggest you try it on any inflatable models.
- Saves battery life when above water
- Telescoping wand included
- USB charging
- The brush tends to fall off mid-use
Hayward 500 Aquabug Suction Above-Ground Pool Cleaner
Aquabug 500 is a bit different from the Wanda 900 we reviewed above. It’s an older model, so it’s not as powerful. However, it’s ideal for smaller tools that don’t usually get very dirty.
It features a unique turbine/gearing system that ensures the same well-balanced water flow. This ensures that your vacuum doesn’t make too much noise disturbing the neighborhood.
In most cases, it glides effortlessly across different pool floors such as vinyl, fiberglass, concrete, and fiberglass. On top of that, it’s really simple to set up and remove as well as to keep clean.
The contoured head makes steering rather easy, allowing the vacuum to complete the task in less time. Plus, its bumper ring ensures that it doesn’t damage the walls of your pool in case it bumps into them.
- Automatic operation
- Constant water flow
- Quiet operation
- Might not clean all parts of the pool
Intex Automatic Above-Ground Swimming Pool Vacuum & Mounted Automatic Skimmer
This might appear like a very unusual machine, but it’s actually among the best ground pool vacuums. It’s an automatic vacuum meant for pumps from 1,600 to 3,500 ghp.
This is a newly designed Intex auto pool cleaner that works as a hassle-free solution for most pools. It’s proven efficient, cleaning all areas of your pool regardless of its size.
However, it only fits Intex pools with 1.5′ hose fitting. You should also pay attention to the outlet connector in the pool because the vacuum attaches with a 24.6′ hose.
It’s made of durable polypropylene plastic that doesn’t get damaged by chemical products. You can remove and clean the included skimmer basket for easier maintenance. It keeps the flow rate constant so that it doesn’t make too much noise as it cleans the floor.
- Compatibility: for filter pumps from 1,600 to 3,500 GPH
- Weight: 22.6 lbs
- Hose Length: 24.6 ft
- For small and large debris
- Easy to set up
- For all kinds of pools
- It tends to get stuck in corners
Dolphin Escape Robotic Above Ground Pool Cleaner
Dolphin Escape is one of the most advanced automatic pool cleaner models. It sports a sleek design that’s attractive and eye-catching so you won’t mind showing it.
One of the best things about its design is the fact that it doesn’t use any bags. It features an oversized cartridge for all the large debris that it picks up from your pool floor.
Another thing worth noting is that this one doesn’t have any wheels. It uses hypergrip tracks to travel across the floor surface with improved traction. This also reduces the chances of possible scratching.
On top of that, it comes with a hyperbrush scrubbing brush, which helps scrub away some more stubborn contaminants. It’s among the best tools to get rid of sticky messes. The vacuum operates via the SmartNav 2.0 Robotic Scanning.
- Advanced design
- Efficient scrubbing brush included
- Large top-load filter
- Can’t clean steps
As you noticed, there are quite a few different models to look into when buying a vacuum for Intex pool. While most of them can handle any Intex pool, some are better for inflatable while others are meant for hard-side pools.
For this reason, you should consider a few other things that can help you narrow down your choices.
Some vacuum cleaner models are suitable for large pools, while others are meant for smaller areas. While both pool vacuum types can clean the area in the same way, those that are meant for larger pools are also bigger in capacity. In most cases, such vacuums are also cordless.
Manual / Automatic
Choosing between manual and automatic depends on your needs and preferences. Manual vacuums are best suited for smaller pools because you have to be the one who operates them. An automatic vacuum cleaner, on the other hand, doesn’t require as much assistance and can do most of the work without you.
Some above ground pool vacuum cleaners are bagged while others are bagless. Whichever type you go for, make sure that it has a reliable filtration system.
It should be able to handle the type of debris you usually deal with without clogging. For this reason, bagged vacuum cleaner models are typically more preferable.
Cord / Cordless
This very much depends on the size of your pool and the type of debris you have to clean. Cordless vacuums are better for large pools and large debris, such as leaves and insects.
On the other hand, corded vacs have unlimited runtime and are ideal for smaller pools. They don’t require any batteries or recharging, so many think they’re easier to use.
Choose a vacuum cleaner that can fit into all the corners of your pool since that’s where most of the dirt is. However, even the best vacuum cleaner models range in design and maneuverability, which is why you should give this a good thought.
Make sure that the vacuum cleaner of your choice is easy to use and made specifically to work in an Intex pool.
Intex Pool Maintenance Guide
When it comes to maintenance requirements, Intex pools need just as much attention as any other. Regular maintenance is critical to maintaining the pool looking and performing as new.
You’ll need a pump, filter, and some tools to keep everything running in perfect order. You’ll probably also need some chemicals in order to keep the pool clean.
When it comes to tools, you’ll need a skimmer, telescoping pool, nylon-bristled brush, a water testing kit, chlorine, and a pool vacuum. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to vacuum a pool because most pool vacuum cleaners come with instructions.
The best vacuum for Intex pool should come with instructions, accessories, and sufficient suction power. Luckily, pretty much every vacuum cleaner on our list fits into this description.
The key is to have a cleaning schedule that you can stick to. Figure out what works best for your needs and preferences and choose a vacuum cleaner according to that.
